THE PSYCHOLOGY OF TRUST IN AI: HOW CHATBOT INTERACTIONS INFLUENCE SOCIAL BEHAVIOR

The National Social Anxiety Center (NSAC) conducted this one-hour clinical education webinar on January 12, 2026. Dr. Genevieve Bartuski, PsyD MBA, discussed the psychology of trust in AI, highlighting the emotional and psychological dynamics that shape how people interact with chatbots and how these interactions can influence mental health — including experiences of social anxiety — by affecting help-seeking behavior, perceived connection, and patterns of social engagement.

JDr. Genevieve Bartuski, PsyD MBA, is an internationally recognized psychologist and consultant specializing in privacy compliance and AI governance. Dr. Bartuski is licensed in the US, and also holds international credentials as a Chartered Psychologist in Forensic and Cyber Psychology through the British Psychological Society, in addition to being a Full Member of the Belgian Association for Psychological Sciences. With a background in psychology and an MBA, she focuses on bridging human behavior, policy, and technology to build ethical, human-centered systems. Dr. Bartuski is the co-founder of Unicorn Intelligence Tech Partners, providing consultation to organizations across tech and healthcare on AI governance, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and AI behavioral harm.
