COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL GROUP THERAPY (CBGT) FOR SOCIAL ANXIETY

The National Social Anxiety Center (NSAC) conducted this one-hour clinical education webinar on May 16, 2025. Julie Wojtaszek, MHSA, MS, TLLP discussed her recently-published literature review on cognitive-behavioral group therapy (CBGT) for social anxiety disorder. She summarized the effectiveness of CBGT, reviewed the impact of treatment structure and delivery, explored moderators and mediators of treatment outcome, and highlighted strengths and opportunities for improvement in this mode of therapy.

Julie Wojtaszek, MHSA, MS, TLLP is a clinical psychology doctoral fellow finishing her PhD at Eastern Michigan University. She has masters’ degrees in clinical psychology and health services administration. She spent the first part of her career focused on improving healthcare in program and operational leadership positions in a variety of healthcare settings, including managed care, hospital operations, and community mental health. In the last five years, she has focused on improving care directly as a clinician and researcher with a primary interest in anxiety disorders, developing specific expertise in social anxiety. Her current research is focused on the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative interventions such as a brief-intensive version of CBGT for social anxiety.
