ACT-INFORMED EXPOSURE THERAPY FOR SOCIAL ANXIETY

The National Social Anxiety Center (NSAC) conducted this hour-long clinical education webinar on July 12, 2024. Dr. Brian Pilecki, PhD discussed the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a framework to understand how to use exposure effectively and overcome barriers to engagement with exposure in the treatment of social anxiety.

Dr. Brian Pilecki, PhD is a clinical psychologist at the Portland Psychotherapy Clinic in Portland, Oregon, where he specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD, and psychedelic-assisted therapy. Dr. Pilecki has expertise in evidence-based therapies, including ACT and CBT, as well as extensive experience in the areas of mindfulness and meditation. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Pilecki is an active researcher and is currently involved in a clinical trial investigating the use of MDMA-assisted therapy to treat social anxiety. He co-authored the book ACT-Informed Exposure for Anxiety: Creating Effective, Innovative, & Values-Based Exposures Using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
